A community procession led the way to the fire that would welcome funeral cards, old love letters, paystubs, and other objects of memory.
Thank you all that participated with open hearts.

To Remember You By
A welcoming space to say farewell. Warm drinks, light, music, and heartfelt stories brought people together tonight.
We thanked Sharon for creating a space to deposit the objects and memories we hold dearly, where grief and love intersect.
The tributes, written memorials and cards will be carried out in a procession and burned with intention. Sunday at 1:30pm for a final farewell.

This year is a big one. Some of our favourite themes are returning (did you say Toboggapalooza? 🛷 Slow Dance?? 🕺👯♀️ The Hibernation Station??? 📺🪿) Along with some favourites, we're trying some brand new things, notably a Hibernation-in-Residence at cSPACE Eau Claire for the month of February! 🌟 Plus, we're travelling to Creston, BC to create GATHER BY FIRE on the massive burn pile at Empire of Dirt!🔥🔥🔥🧯 And we're super excited (and nervous) to host a live version of EARS HAVE EYES for CJSW & Golden Co-op Radio! 👂🦻👀

cSPACE was established in 2011 as a unique social enterprise in Calgary that is developing a network of non-profit creative workspaces across the city. We were formed in 2011 by the Calgary Arts Development Authority and The Calgary Foundation with a mission to incubate our city’s creative talent. Our purpose is to own, build and operate large scale, multi-tenant centres that support our city’s artists, non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs through affordable space, networking opportunities and specialized programming. Our vision for Calgary is a city where creative enterprise thrives in vibrant communities. Our mission is to develop creative places that connect people and ideas through places that ignite collaboration and community-led change.
Eau Claire & Bow River Lumber Co. building
The Eau Claire & Bow River Lumber Co. was established in Calgary in 1886. The present building (on the City’s inventory of evaluated historic assets) was built c.1903-04 and was the second office erected by the lumber company. Since 1978, it has been known to Calgarians as the beloved 1886 Cafe. The wood frame building is being raised to meet flood plain requirements and was moved while Eau Claire Plaza undergoes redevelopment. The building is now temporarily situated at the northwest corner of 3rd street and 2 Ave SW, and is fitted with accessible ramps, attractive outside deck areas, and inviting lighting to support the hub’s use.
cSPACE Projects acknowledges that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, which includes Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai. We also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
